چکیده

This paper describes a method of implementing thermal power feedback (TPF) into a 5th order nonlinear distortion analysis with Volterra-series. The main advantages of the Volterra analysis is that diferent thermal and electrothermal contributions of distortion can be separated, giving extensive information about dominant distortion mechanisms. As an example, electro-thermal distortion in a simple common emitter amplijier is studied.

Predictive microwave device design by coupled electro - t hermal simulation based on a fully physical thermal model

Coupled electro-thermal simulations are performed to demonstrate predictive design of microwave devices. These simulations are based on an original, fully physical, thermal impedance matrix approach, capable of describing 'nearly exactly' time-dependent heat flow in complex 3-dimensional systems, whilst requiring no model reduction for electro-thermal CAD. This thermal model is validated by the...

A 5th order Volterra study of a 30W LDMOS power amplifier

A 30 W LDMOS is modeled using a 5th order polynomial model. The polynomial model is compared to the largesignal MET model using harmonic balance, and as the results agreed very well, the polynomial model was imported to a numerical Volterra simulator to find out the dominant cause of distortion for a class A biased amplifier. The characterization technique is briefly discussed.

Non-linear Parameter Estimation Using Volterra Series with Multi-tone Excitation

The functional form representation of input-output relationship through Volterra series provides a structured mathematical platform for the study of nonlinear systems. It employs multi-dimensional kernels, which upon convolution with the applied excitation forces, express system response in the form of a power series. Frequency domain transforms of these multi-dimensional kernels provide higher...

Fully coupled dynamic electro-thermal simulation

AbstructFully coupled dynamic electro-thermal simulation on chip and circuit level is presented. Temperature dependent thermal conductivity of silicon is taken into account, thus solving the nonlinear heat diffusion equation. The numerical solution is carried out by using the industry-standard simulator SABER, therefore for electro-thermmal simulations we are able to use the common electrical c...

Simulator Coupling for Electro-Thermal Simulation of Integrated Circuits

The paper presents a methodology for simulating the static and dynamic performance of integrated circuits in the presence of electro-thermal interactions on the integrated circuit die. The technique is based on the coupling of a FEM program with a circuit simulator. In difference to other known simulator couplings the time step algorithm is used. Its implementation into simulation tools is desc...
